Lessons from the Mueller Report

So just what is the final takeaway from Mueller's report, and his Congressional testimony?  Well, that depends on who you ask.
If you ask a Republican, he/she will say that it totally exonerates Trump and it all just a big expensive witch-hunt from the get-go.
But if you ask a Democrat, he/she will say that it proves Trump colluded with the Russians, gives ample evidence for impeachment, and reinforces the fact that he never should have been elected anyway.
Are they both reading the same document?!?
Actually none of this is surprising in the least.  Our entire political system has devolved into a big, ugly us-versus-them brawl that has absolutely nothing to do with solving problems or making our nation a better place.  I absolutely guarantee that if Hillary Clinton or some other Democrat had been elected President and Mueller investigated him/her on suspicion of colluding with some foreign government, then the rhetoric would simply be flipped around the other way.
Don't believe me?  Well don't take my word for it.  Open up any dictionary - paper or virtual - and flip over to "Democratic Party."  Here's the definition of the term, and I quote:  "An American political party dedicated to the cause of defeating the Republican Party."   Now flip over some pages and look up "Republican Party", and it says: ""An American political party dedicated to defeating the Democratic Party."
Note that there's not a smidgeon in there about policy or philosophy or platform or governance or any of that irrelevant nonsense.  It's all just about beating that OTHER nasty ole' party.
Actually though, regarding policy and philosophy, I have some terrible news:  It ain't really all that different.  Only the rhetoric is changed.  Democrats promise Big Government, and by golly, they deliver!  Republicans, meanwhile, promise smaller government, but deliver Big Government.  (At least the Democrats get kudos for being honest about their intentions.)
So as the partisan battle rages on, Trump continues to prove, on a day-by-day basis, that the Democratic take on the Mueller report is correct:  the Republicans picked the wrong man.  Latest example: a black Democratic Congressman points out that conditions are awful in the holding facilities for immigrants, and this is a problem that requires immediate attention.  Trump, in his usual fashion, replies by … insulting the messenger.  Unfortunately, being an asshole does not constitute grounds for impeachment.  Trump knows this, and exploits it to the max.
Democratic Presidential contenders
The pundits say that if we want to get rid of Trump, the only way is if the voters demand it.  Yeah right.  Look at what the Democrats have put up to compete with him:  a bunch of big-government worshippers who say that the solution to America's problems is to emulate the Soviet Union and Venezuela, and give the government unlimited power and control over our lives, money, and businesses.
So, dear voter and dedicated reader of this blog:  Where does that leave us?
It's time to clean house and drain the swamp!  And by that, I mean we voters need to quit supporting the two major parties.  It is clear that nothing good will ever happen as long as those two are in charge.  Remember that if you vote FOR someone or some party, it means you like what they are doing, and want them to keep doing it.  So either find another party to support - or just boycott the next election.
